Should I invest in funds?

Funds were introduced to open up the world of investing to regular folks, but they're not for everyone.

So, what is a fund and why should you invest in one?

A fund is simply a selection of different stocks or other assets. They are put together and managed by fund managers, and because they are diversified they can help control risk.

Funds authorised by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) have to comply with strict rules which aim to keep your money safe and away from fraud or scams.

Always choose a fund that is appropriate to your level of risk. And when selecting a fund consider whether you want an actively managed fund or a passive ‘tracker’.

But be aware that with funds there are also fees and the amount you pay could have a significant impact on your returns over the long term.
